FAQs
What can I donate?
We accept items that we sell in our Stores. They must be clean and not need repair. What does this mean? It means that not every item, even if in excellent condition, is sellable in our Stores. You might have some good items in your home (like an aquarium), but we don’t sell them. So therefore we don’t accept them. The issue is how much room.

Retail shopping is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Sundays.
Donation Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 4:00 PM. Closed on Sundays.
How can I volunteer in each store?
There are twenty departments included in this Stores. You can:
Select a department or two and clean, price and stock the retail floor with the items. Assist with the cashiering at the counter
Remove items from the floor that have not sold in 5 weeks.
Find the volunteer tab on the website and send us an application.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, Illinois Valley Pads is a 501(c)3 organization and will provide a tax receipt with the donations.
How is my donation used?
All proceeds after expenses are used to operate the two local Pads homeless shelters.
Upon receiving the donations, they are sorted for quality and ability to sell.
We recycle anything that is not resalable which includes metal, clothing, shoes, belts, and purses to earn income.
Items are priced and displayed on the retail floor for sale.
Items are also available to our shelter clients through our voucher system at no cost to them as needed.
Items are available to our shelter clients who secure housing to help them furnish their home at no cost.
